This village has a rich history, dating back to Roman times when it was an ancient settlement.

At the centre of the village is the 18th century Bell Hotel, a cosy establishment with eight ensuite bedrooms and two serviced cottages, making it a perfect spot for a family stay on the Lincolnshire coast. The hotel is known for its warm hospitality and serves beers from the award-winning Batemans Brewery.

Burgh le Marsh is also home to several historical landmarks, including the Grade I listed Anglican parish church dedicated to St Peter and St Paul, and two notable windmills. It’s a delightful destination for any visitor to the area wishing to experience the rich history of the Lincolnshire coast.

The walls of the pub feature vintage photographs and memorabilia that tell the stories of the local area and its patrons. You’re sure to be welcomed as part of the local community, whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor.

We also have a newly built & well-lit patio, which offers a pleasant spot to enjoy a drink and socialise outdoors. It’s an ideal location to come and spend the afternoon with friends and family, where we also hold community events such as BBQs.

Traditional food & drink offerings and live music & events are all coming to the pub very soon. Don’t forget to sign up to our mailing list for the latest updates on how we’re transforming The Bell Hotel.

Batemans, our local brewery

The Bell Hotel sells Batemans beers from their brewery just down the road in Wainfleet, Lincolnshire.

Batemans Brewery has a rich history dating back to 1874 when it was founded by George Bateman, a local farmer who decided to swap farming for brewing. Initially, George and his wife Susannah brewed beer in their kitchen for local farm workers. The brewery was later moved to Salem House in Wainfleet, which features a distinctive windmill that remains a symbol of the brewery.

Batemans is still a family-run business to this day, committed to traditional brewing methods & high-quality ingredients and producing a range of award-winning ales. Notable beers include the iconic Triple XB (XXXB), which has won multiple awards from CAMRA.

In 2024, Batemans Brewery celebrates its 150th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in Lincolnshire’s long-standing tradition of craft brewing.
